I need help describing a revolver?

I am planning on writing an alien war story, and one guy has a shiny black futuristic custom revolver that i don't know how to describe, in the scene I'm planning on writing, he simply pulls it out to reload it, the revolver also has a large barrel. Please help me, as all my war writing has been medieval and fantasy.
