Do you think that the recent increase in sea wall breakages in Guyana has been caused by beach erosion?

I was reading that sea walls are actually bad since they cause erosion to occur faster. I grew up thinking that sea walls are good since they have protected the Guyana coastline for so long. But now I am thinking that recent trouble we have been having with them is caused by it being undermined.
